Our approach to Māori and iwi recruitment recognises and respects the complexity inherent in these environments. We work alongside boards, appointment komiti and leadership to navigate interconnected relationships, whakapapa and stakeholder expectations with care - ensuring processes are fair, transparent and grounded in integrity. In doing so, we create the conditions where all candidates can come forward with confidence, knowing they will be considered objectively and in a way that upholds the mana of both the individual and the organisation.
Where appropriate, we engage early - working with boards, leadership, kaumatua, kaimahi and, at times, wider whānau groups to understand role requirements, organisational aspirations and stakeholder expectations. As processes progress toward interview and evaluation, we work in support of both candidates and clients to create environments that uphold mana. This often sees us preparing for whānau tautoko, facilitating interviews and evaluation wānanga, and supporting robust, tikanga‑led decision‑making.
We embrace opportunities to host interviews at our tari in Tāmaki Makaurau and Te Whanganui‑a‑Tara, spaces designed to manaaki wānanga based and whānau inclusive processes. We are equally honoured to awhi interview processes at the hou kāinga where that is preferred. From identification of preferred candidates, we continue to support appointment, approval and transition processes through to onboarding.
When recruiting Māori talent into mainstream organisations, we are mindful of the considerations candidates and whānau may hold. We work carefully with both parties to support culturally safe, well‑informed decisions and are privileged to assist many non‑Māori organisations to begin or deepen their journey in te ao Māori - making recruitment a safe, respectful and rewarding experience for all involved.
We are a Māori owned business and partner with iwi, kaupapa Māori and Māori led organisations to strengthen governance, leadership and specialist capability, operating he tika, he pono, me te aroha in all that we do.
